Boundaries should be drawn along terrain features that are easily recognizable on the ground. The boundaries should be situated so that the key terrain features, avenues of approach, and rivers fall within the boundaries of the unit conducting the operation. They are shown by a solid line if presently in effect or made effective by the order being prepared. Their use is based on the techniques and tactics peculiar to the type of tactical operation in which they are used.
